When International Truck and Engine (Navistar) launched the MaxxForce™ Diesel Power family, they designed each model for a specific job. Here’s a simple breakdown so you know which engine fits where.


🔹 MaxxForce™ 5 – Compact V6

  • Trucks: Class 4–5 (CityStar™)

  • Power: 200 HP / 440 lb-ft

  • Best For: Lighter-duty delivery & city work


🔹 MaxxForce™ 7 – Quiet V8

  • Trucks: Class 5–7 (DuraStar™, IC buses, XT)

  • Power: 200–230 HP / 560–620 lb-ft

  • Best For: Medium-duty hauling with better fuel economy & low noise


🔹 MaxxForce™ DT – The Legendary I6

  • Trucks: Class 6–8 (DuraStar™, WorkStar™)

  • Power: 210–300 HP / 520–860 lb-ft

  • Best For: Proven reliability, easy maintenance, lower cost of ownership


🔹 MaxxForce™ 9 – Stronger I6

  • Trucks: Class 7–8 (DuraStar™, WorkStar™)

  • Power: 300–330 HP / 800–950 lb-ft
