The oil inlet and pressure relief valve is a critical piece of the Detroit Diesel Series 60 lubrication system, fitting 11.1L, 12.7L, and 14L engines. It caps peak oil pressure and keeps flow moving where it needs to go — when it sticks or fails, the damage lands on bearings and the pump itself. Reusing the original during a pump or bottom end job is a risk that is not worth the labor of going back in, so install a new one while the engine is open.
